Between June 10 to 12, is held in Poienile Izei, the Domnita Pension (Pension Lady) in the Land of Maramures picturesque environment, the second edition of the Poienile Izei Dance Festival . Pension event organized with the support of Domnita Pension (Lady Pension), the Casa Bobocea, and Craciun Investments Company, brings to the fore, the deeper the traditional values of Maramures, displaying the skill and involvement of the people, offered huge potential of natural resources in this area.

We invite you to attend events organized by us Poienile Izei area, Maramures, a place called the heart of Maramures, the “Poienile izei Dance Festival”, where a dance to heat a green terrace on the hill near the hostel. We invited local singers, where to heat a dance like never seen : spins, tramping, drinking game, Men, Dewclaws, holidays, and many other traditional dances.
On the first day of the festival, all guests will be waiting with a glass of plum Horincă, our hosts dressed in costumes, a great pleasure to welcome you with hospitality typical Maramures true.
At 16, the real party starts with popular singers of our guests who will delight us with their party songs specific to the area of Maramures.
The festival will be attended by all the village young people dressed in costumes, which will spend up later.
All our guests dressed them in traditional costumes, to feel a real man from Maramures with Burn and cook, as I port from us.
At about 20, after the game and good healthy Preheat barbecue a pig in the cage, good enough to eat, with polenta and pickles, as only in Maramures can eat, and peasant soup, an original recipe in our city and polenta dish with cabbage and pork roast and a dessert cake and homemade cakes, depending on your preference.
Before a glass table Horincă ( a strong drink ) worship honoring the guests with a special dedication of the singers.
In the afternoon, when inserted, go on spending and make a campfire with twigs and pine cones to be more spectacular fire, where every drink a glass of Horincă, desire to come for fun and play around the fire, young and old.
The party lasts until dawn, after each possible with Horincă, wine, beer, according to preference.
The next morning, to wake up, drink coffee, eat a fresh sheep cheese polenta, who wants, can drink a glass of Horincă before, to come appetite.
At 11 o’clock, go for a walk around the village to visit, to the wooden house to see how the villagers lived long ago, make a stop, breathe fresh air, and after I finished the UNESCO world heritage site visited the old church, a church painting impressive and unique in the world. On one wall of the church are painted devils, as people who scoff at sin, and many other unique elements of the church. At 14 o’clock we go to visit the sheep fold of sheep, sheep and lambs to see where we’ll prepare a shepherds Balmos fresh sheep’s milk, as only you can eat at the sheepfold.
After eating habits remains to be seen shepherds and tell us their lives and events which pass the summer with sheep to pasture.
For our guests who want to stay several days we provide a very attractive package:

For those lovers we offer five traditional wooden cabins, nicely furnished in a campsite with two Hinte and a large play area for children.

The culture of Maramures is famous for its local specificity. The source of this original culture stands in the people’s attitude, as well as in the relative geographical isolation – the Northern bend of the Carpathians, an area surrounded by mountains with untouched forests .The ethnographic elements of the costumes, pottery, decorations and wood carving technique lead to the conclusion that a tribe of Dacians are the ancestors of those people.

The Maramures people had been led by local Romanian nobility, which in time was integrated in the peasants families; thus a new class of people appeared, free of obligations and duties. Their freedom, determined them to preserve and proudly promote their own values in construction, clothing, art and language. The first translations of religious texts in Romanian were made here, under the guidance of local nobles.

Maramures is a country full of legends, rather you could say it is a land of story. Country Maramures is an area full of symbols, the link load we benefit, urging us to meditation and analogy. Wooden Church Saint Parascheva: UNESCO monument dating from the year 1604, which is why very interesting painting unprecedented so far in Romania.

New St George Church, a building that many consider a cathedral, after the greatness that is required. Here people are very faithful, there is no celebration when the church is not full of people dressed in costumes. It has a similar history master Manole Monastery, where he sacrificed a lifetime. The Jewish Cemetery, Jews were buried here in 1900 who were infected with leprosy. Jews still live in houses, where locals are still alive.

Boiler Horinca (palinka), which is well known in the village because all the locals come here to do Horinca (brandy).

Weaving workshops where women are woven wool and traditional clothing to men and children to wear them on holiday. It is a pride of new clothes to go out with the village on holiday.

Old wooden houses where the elderly live. When you enter into a old house, the man invites you to the table, gives you a glass of Horinca, you put on the table a bowl with horn, pancove and what is best in the house.

Merry Cemetery

Sapanta Village, is famous worldwide for the orginal “Merry Cemetery” you are hosting. A different cemetery, with crosses painted in vivid colors that reigns over a particular blue, which long has the name of places: Blue Cemetery. Cemetery name comes from the many crosses and the colorful and satirical poems which are poems inscription on the crosses. Legend says the cheerful attitude in the face of death is usually one of the Dacians rituals who believed in eternal life and death for them was just passing to another world. They finally saw death as a tragic but as a chance to meet Zamolxe supreme god. Cemetery dates from the mid 1930s and is popular artist Stan Ion Patras, sculptor, painter and poet at the same time. Creativity’s of Patras revealed and celebrated this monumental masterpiece. More than 50 years the artist has created hundreds of crosses, wooden inscription in characteristic style. After his death in 1977 his work was continued by his disciple Dumitru Pop Tincu. The material used for the cross is oak which is the inscription by hand after it was cut and dry. At the top of every cross there is a baso-relief with scenes from the life of the deceased. The scenes are simple and I might even say naive style but without the past life of the village residents, present a relevant aspect of everyone’s life. They show women working with wool, weaving mats or making bread, men who chop wood or earth country, shepherds with their flocks, wood workers, musicians and many other occupations. Their drawings and poems Stan Ioan Dumitru and Pop Tincu Patrae and managed to recreate an entire village and gave people a second life after death. More than 800 painted crosses constitute a vast archive that preserve the history of the inhabitants of the Cemetery.
